Here's how I imagined my college schedule: art history, anthropology, sociology, physics, music, and stuff like that. Here's how it's actually gonna be, business management, finance, bioengineering, hard hard hard math, marketing, economics, etc. And Penn just has to make me feel better by sending me a thick packet of honors class in juicy topics that I CAN'T TAKE because my program is so friggin' rigid......

It's been a week since graduation, and I've been occupying myself with useless (by azn parents terms) fun every day. Partially just to have fun, but mostly to keep my mind off stuff that I don't wanna think about. Anyways, I won't talk about that because all you hungry kiddies out there must be dying for this stuff >=) Yea, you know who you are. Anyways, perhaps as a symbol of my mindset, my computer is slowly transitioning from high school to college. Specifically, the row of links on my browser has gone from AHS student bulletin, arcadia weather, college board, princeton review, to Penn Registrar, wharton undergraduate board, Penn housing, Penn campus newspaper, and philadelphia news. My buddy list has also been reconfigured, gone are the class categories - i used to place people in groups like "AP Spanish" or "AP Chem" so that I can go straight to the list to see if anyone can help me w/ hw and stuff. Now everybody are consolidated into "AHS 02" while last years peoples are "AHS 00 01," my "Penn" group is at 37 and growing, I fear for the day when my buddy list gets full again (its awfully close) and i'll have to delete old screennames that I don't recognize to make room for new people at Penn. sigh...... going so far away isn't that bad, every time I get depressed, sad, or have problems in general, I just think I'll be away from all this in 2 months and it makes me feel a bit better, I guess it's an ostritch in sand mentality....anyways, summer is happy, summer is fun, as long as I don't think about stuff =) Tuesday, June 18

Graduation was great, though I didn't take in the moment as much as I thought I would all these 4 years. I thought I'd walk into the grandstand area in this dignified stride and look straight ahead toward my glittering (w/ made in china glitter bought from 99 cents store) future, but instead I totally messed up the pace and spacing of the marching graduates while I stopped to take pictures of the cheering crowd, who all seemed to be waving at me, so I waved back at no particular person. I smuggled in a bottle of blowing bubbles and started blowing them during the awarding of diplomas, the teachers got pissed and asked us to give them the bottle, but non of us confessed (thanks guys for not selling me out!) and I guess since we're all salutatorians in that section, they didn't want to revoke our diplomas =P but they did threaten to cut us off from water supply if we didnt stop. So, unfortunately, we obeyed orders from HS officials for the last time in our lives. I tried to feel all sentimental during the turning of tassels and throwing of mortarboard, but it all happened too quickly before I could take in the moment fully. o well, it was fun, and I felt pretty good during the whole thing, a sense of accomplishment and all. Grad nite was.....actually I don't wanna talk about it that much, but me and leo choi did sing Truly Madly Deeply to Ms. King, whom we dragged on stage w/ us, good times....I missed the caracature artist and, prophetically, didn't marry anyone >=) At the end of the night when we were being shooed out and everyone was balling, I totally zoned out and couldn't realize what was going on. I mechanically hugged every familar face I saw, which I'll probably never see again, and just sat there, trying to work up some tears but couldn't, maybe I'm too cold-hearted =( my room has more and more Penn stuff and less and less AHS stuff now...sign of the times.... |
